In actually building Catachan Rought Riders, you've got to have lost of Bits and pieces to make it authentic, and depending to where you want reach with them, lots of patience. (Aint't that all conversions though?)
the Catachan Rough Riders shown here use these parts:
Cold ones Plastic Sprue 9980212002
Rough Riders Lance Arms 010504406
Rough Riders Legs 010504405
Bits of Milliput
Body,Head, Arms from Catachan Jungle FIghters
Mordheim, Spacemarine, etc. Bits
The first three are pretty much necessary parts while the rest is up to you and your level of skill. You'll have to do a little bit of filing here and there get everything to fit nicely, and whatever seems a bit awkward, you can cover with bitz. I used mordheim bits that have supplies and sack to fill, with weapon bitz here and there.
![]() ![]() ![]() First up was the Veteran Sargeant Solomon Grell who was the most customized of all the figure.
As you can see the Sarge was made form this bit and that, his Cold one Mount coming from a fantasy dark elf General. The legs were grab from a mordheim sprue as it made him seem from the swamp to be a bit rag tag, while other bits came from a halbedier set, the backpack in back from a Chimera box, his arms were both Cathchan jungle fighter arms to keep wiht the big muscily look and the head was Zombie head that seemed nice and different. He was then ptrimed white and colors were selected.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Sergeant had a lot of color scheme to be considered before, hand, mostly between him and his mount, Teecuno. I painted the mount first, Blazing Orange all around, then a Snot Green was dry brushed over the more scaly parts. I love the dry brushing but by then, Teecuno was looking more like a Miami Hurricane fan than a Catachan Cold one. Tiger stripes in Chaos Black were put on while the armor was giving detail with Boltgun metal and Brazen Brass, then detail work went into his Bone spike and teeth and such.
Grell himself was painted my Catachan style in Camo green and such while a bright yellow was Applied there. Recently I repainted and using a sharpie, put those cool Necromunda caution stripes on it. He might be used for a mounted ban of Ash Waste nomads for Necromunda later on I have to see.
The rest were painted with similar approach with little variances here and there:
If you wanted to create something like it really takes no skill ( as youcan see!) just some wallet fat and patience. These are the kind of things that folks later on really gaze atm while your playing and you'll win thanks ot the Hialeah rules of "If it's painted better, you win!"
